The golden age of sneakerheads started undisputedly in the first half of the 2000s. During this time Nike served (future) classics like on the assembly line - partly without special background stories - the often special color and material combinations were enough to give the releases that "certain something"! For an absolute 1er Grail from this time, the time has come: the Nike Air Max 1 Crepe/Hemp comes back and will be available at Asphaltgold.

First released as part of the "Crepe" pack in 2004, the retro comes in just as strong but with slight updates. Then as now, the *Crepe Hemp* was distinguished by a unique toebox made of "Woven Hemp". The suede upper in brown and the eye-catching Swoosh in turquoise complete the colorway. Of particular note is the crepe sole, which is very rarely used in the Air Max family. The 2022 version is very close to the original look, but differs (for practical reasons) in the upper from the OG: the wrinkling of the classic Hemp-Upper was so severe that it was decided to replace the original material with a more wearable braided upper - wear your shoes!

Because in the sneaker scene the theme of vintage and retro, passion for collecting and the specific search for "old grails" were and are always present, we have for the re-release of the Air Max 1 *Hemp* our friends from Double Double Vintage visited. The Mannheim-based Thrift Shop is an absolute paradise for lovers (of sportswear and sneakers) of the 90s and 2000s - especially among younger generations, vintage shopping is more relevant than ever.

The founders Niklas (27) and Simon (26) have created a business out of their passion. The hunt for vintage pieces, which initially led to a collection in their grandparents' basement, turned into an online store in 2018 and a little later into their own store in Mannheim! In the meantime Double Double Vintage one of the Vintage Sportswear Hubs at all and known far beyond the borders of Germany!
